Here we are in full swing of our big season. Snowbirds are back in town after the holidays and business everywhere is picking up. Spring training for baseball is right around the corner followed closely by Saint Patrick's Day and Easter. Here's hoping 2012 brings us bigger and better things for our industry. Experts say our economy is on the upswing and lets hope we can climb quickly out of the hole we have dug over the past few years.
Speaking of big events, Valentine's Day is just a couple of weeks away. This is always a big dining day for everyone. It also falls on a Tuesday which is always good for the Restaurant business. This helps boost a slower day during the week with a big weekend for the people who celebrate a little early. We hope all of you have a very happy Valentine's Day and make time to celebrate it with your loved ones also.

I bet when you saw the cover this month you were a little taken back. A wedding couple in black and white hosts this issue. Emily's Events is the catering company that is featured and the picture is from her own recent wedding in November. Emily Greenland Garner has been operating her catering company for seven years now. Her company is growing in leaps and bounds and she is a credit to our food industry. The story reveals some of her food and venue that she caters. June is the most popular wedding month of the year and now is the time to get everything prepared for your wedding. Give Emily a call and let her plan your wedding.

Another big event coming up is the Scottsdale Culinary Festival in April. Mark this one on your calendar as it is one of the biggest food events of the year and is highly attend. We will keep you informed over the next couple of months of the different events and tastings that will be going on at the festival.
We want to encourage all of you to follow our local Chefs news each month. President Carlton Brooks has a column each month and keeps you informed of what's going on We also keep you posted of meeting times and places each month and encourage you to attend these meetings. They are very informative and a great time to mingle with others in our industry.

Also coming up next month is the finals of the C-CAP competition this year. Junior and senior high school students from all over the state are competing for scholarships to continue their education in the culinary field. The public is welcome to attend and watch the competition and we will keep you posted on the time and place they are held. Follow their column each month for further explanation on the competition.
